A reinforced concrete and brick water tower within the railway station grounds. The reinforced concrete tank is in the shape of an inverted cone and has a capacity of 20,000 gallons. It is carried on a circular brick base with corbelled cap and plain frieze, the uppermost course being in bluestone. There is a timber access door to the tower at the base with a bluestone lintel. The only other known example of a water tower of this type was demolished at Dandenong in January 1964. ... more |
