The brick station building at Clifton Hill was erected for the Victorian Railways Department during the late 1880's. It is one of eleven similar designs used principally in the metropolitan area. Water Tower - Mordialloc Railway Station

A reinforced concrete and brick water tower within the railway station grounds. The reinforced concrete tank is in the shape of an inverted cone and has a capacity of 20,000 gallons. It is carried on a circular brick base with corbelled cap and plain frieze, the uppermost course being in bluestone. There is a timber access door to the tower at the base with a bluestone lintel. The only other known example of a water tower of this type was demolished at Dandenong in January 1964. ... more |
